The Abu Dhabi Court for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases obligated two persons to pay a woman Dhs10,000, including Dhs7,000 she had already paid them for buying a cat she saw on the social networking site Instagram, and Dhs3,000 in compensation for the damages she incurred as a result of seizing her money.

The details of the case date back to an earlier time, when a woman filed a lawsuit in which she demanded to obligate two persons to pay her Dhs7,100, in addition to Dhs5,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages, besides the fees and expenses of the case.

The plaintiff indicated that the appellee stole Dhs7,100 from her fraudulently through an information technology means. She attached a copy of a penal verdict to the lawsuit.

The court indicated that the appellee, through the social networking site Instagram, deluded the plaintiff into selling a cat to her, and after she transferred Dhs7,100 to their account, after that they did not respond to her, and she did not receive the cat.

The court pointed out that it was proven that the appellee deliberately did not handed over the cat.

The court ordered them to return the sum transferred to them by the woman, Dhs7,100, beside Dhs3,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages she had incurred.

They were also ordered to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
