Abu Dhabi has changed its free public parking and Darb tollgate fee from Fridays to Sundays, starting 15 July 2022.

The decision will further streamline the mobility of traffic during weekday peak hours, and improve road safety across the emirate.

This decision will make free parking in public parking on Sundays instead of Fridays. It also said the fees for the Darb system will be applied to Fridays, instead of Sundays.

This will start from July 15, 2022.

In implementation of the new decision, the Integrated Transport Center in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the amendment of the date for calculating the parking fees in public parking and the fees for the “Darb” system for traffic tariffs in the emirate, to become from Monday to Saturday, provided that it is free on Sundays and public holidays.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi announced the amendment of the provisions of the executive regulations of Law No. (18) of 2009 regulating vehicle parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the executive regulations of Law No. 17 of 2017 regarding traffic tariffs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This came in line with Resolution No. 72 of 2022 issued by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi regarding the amendment of the provisions of Law No. 18 of 2009 regulating vehicle parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and Law No. 17 of 2017 regarding traffic tariffs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

This comes in line with the requirements of the transport sector, and in a manner that enhances the flow of traffic during peak times during weekdays, facilitates the movement of community members, and raises the levels of security and safety on the emirate's roads.
