A 40-year-old woman fell into a well in the village of Rumaila in Taounate Province, northern Morocco. A relative of the victim said the victim went to fetch water from a well near her house, but she did not return, so the family members rushed to search for her.

During their search, they found a barrel of water next to the well, so they suspected that she had fallen into the well. The victim’s family alerted the local authorities, that informed the security bodies and rescue teams, who rushed to retrieve the victim’s body using modern machines and equipment.

A local source said it took many hours to retrieve the body from the well, which was 6 metres deep, and they had to empty the well using pumps. The source added that after the body was retrieved, it was transferred to the mortuary for autopsy to find out the reasons for the death, and to ensure that there was no premeditated crime.

The same source stated that, upon the instructions of the Public Prosecution, the judicial police conducted an investigation to find out the circumstances of the incident and the reasons for the death of the victim, who fell on her head at the bottom of the well.
