A Pakistani man mercilessly beat up a female doctor at the premises of a police station in Bahawalpur district of Punjab province.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The incident was recorded in the surveillance cameras of the police station and the footage later went viral on social media.
In the clip, a man can been seen beating a helpless woman in front of a police officer as she falls on the ground after being struck many times.
The man continues to punch and slap her as the woman tries to defend herself.
The footage also show a police official slapping the unruly man on his neck from behind to calm him down.
Other people in the police station can be seen trying to deescalate the situation.
The lady doctor got up and was seen trying to hit the man with one of her slippers.
According to local media, the female doctor and her husband had a family dispute.
They were asked to come to the police station to settle it.
The lady doctor’s husband didn’t come to the police station and sent his cousin instead, the media reported.
An argument broke out between the lady doctor and her husband’s cousin after which he started assaulting her.
The man was immediately arrested.
The authorities took action after watching the CCTV video on social media, and removed the Station House Officer, as he couldn’t control the situation.
