The Abu Dhabi Appellate Court upheld the ruling of the Court of First Instance which obligated a wife to pay a compensation of Dhs30,000 to her sister-in-law, after she beat her up on the pretext of searching for her husband.

The details date back to earlier when the plaintiff filed a civil lawsuit demanding that the defendant pay her Dhs200,000, and the legal interest of 9%.

She mentioned that the defendant was her brother’s wife, and that she assaulted her and her family in their home on the pretext of searching for her husband.

The plaintiff also added that her brother's wife crouched on top of her, grabbed her hand from behind and beat her up. She pointed out that, according to the medical report, resulted in multiple longitudinal, transverse abrasions, bruises with swelling and redness on the right forearm, and bruises and abrasions on the upper back.

The defendant denied the incident and affirmed that the accusation was malicious due to family disputes between her and her husband, pointing out that the penal verdict acquitted her of the accusation of insulting the plaintiff and causing material and moral damage to her.

The Abu Dhabi Court for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases ordered the brother’s wife to pay Dhs30,000 to the plaintiff, besides the fees and expenses.
