The General Department of Human Rights of the Dubai Police revealed that it has resolved the problem of a 14-year-old Arab girl by registering her in school and obtaining identification papers for her, in cooperation with the official authorities.

The department said that the girl had resorted to her aunt to help her go to the Child Rights section at Dubai Police after her family abandoned her due to the social conditions which led to the deprivation of her rights, including treatment in hospitals and others.

Maitha Al Beloushi, head of the Child Protection Department, said that the mother of the child did not register her and did not obtain her identification papers, to avoid legal accountability, given her illegal relationship with her father before marriage.

When the girl grew up, she asked her aunt to take her to the rights of the child wing to be recognised by the official authorities, and her problem was already solved.

Major General Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr, Director of the General Department of Human Rights, affirmed that this is part of the Dubai Police’s efforts to protect children’s rights guaranteed by the Federal Child Protection Law “Wadeema”.

Al Murr added that there are various means for receiving complaints, including a 24-hour hotline, and a link on the police website, and through the Dubai Police account on Twitter.
