‏UAE strongly condemns deadly attack in western Sinai, stands in solidarity with Egypt against terrorism

The UAE has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a water lifting station, east of the Suez Canal in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which resulted in the death of an officer and 10 soldiers, as well as the injury of five others.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed the UAE's strong condemnation of these criminal acts, and its constant rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilising security and stability, in contravention of humanitarian values and principles.

The Ministry affirmed its solidarity and support with the Arab Republic of Egypt in confronting terrorists, and in taking all necessary measures to protect the country's security and stability, and eradicate this affliction.

Moreover, the Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims' families as a result of this heinous crime, and wished a speedy recovery for all the injured.

Arab League flays terrorist attack that targeted a water lifting station

Meanwhile, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL), strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting a water lifting station in Egypt.

In his statement, the Secretary-General expressed the Arab League's solidarity with Egypt and its efforts to combat terrorist activities and protect its security and stability, stressing the League's support of the Egyptian authorities' ongoing efforts to root out terrorism.

Aboul Gheit also underscored the need to combine international efforts to eliminate such threats at all levels.

Al Azhar slams attack in Egypt

Al Azhar, the world's leading institution on Sunni Islam, has also strongly condemned the terrorist attack in western Sinai.

 In a statement, Al Azhar affirmed that Egyptians stand united with the heroic soldiers and officers of the valiant armed forces and police in the war against terrorism, reiterating its support for their efforts and praying to Allah Almighty for their success.
Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, extended his deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims' families, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
