In a bizarre turn of events, a bride slapped her would-be fiancé not once, but twice as he garlanded her on stage during their wedding ceremony in India.

A video of the incident that has gone viral on social media sites.

The clip shows the groom, Ravikant Ahirwar, trying to garland his bride, Reena, with guests and relatives cheering them on.

Suddenly, the bride slaps the groom twice and stomps off the stage, leaving the groom and the guests stunned.

Sources said the bride was upset that the groom was visibly drunk and refused to marry an "alcoholic."

While the accident left everyone stunned in silence, the families of the spouses intervened and convinced them to get married after which she finally agreed to marry the man she had slapped in public view.
