The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) issued a decision administratively shutting down ‘Al Ibrahimi Restaurant’ on Sheikh Zayed II Street (Electra) in Abu Dhabi, which holds trade licence number CN-1030918, for violating Law No. 2 for 2008 regarding food safety in Abu Dhabi.

The ADAFSA explained that the food control report stated that the closure decision came as a result of the establishment’s repeated failure to meet the health and food safety requirements.

Two fines were already issued against the establishment in addition to a warning of administrative closure for reasons related to low cleanliness levels at food preparation and reservation areas and melting frozen foods at an inappropriate temperature, thereby causing them to be rotten and have a nasty smell. The ADAFSA also detected the presence of insects in most food preparation and reservation areas.

The ADAFSA confirmed that the administrative closure order would remain in effect until the establishment responded to all the demands.

It pointed out that the closure and detection of the observed abuses came as part of its inspection efforts aimed for all establishments to comply with the food safety requirements, noting that all establishments of different nature and food products are subject to periodic inspection by the ADAFSA inspectors.

The ADAFSA called on the public to communicate with it and report any food violations by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi’s toll-free number 800555, enabling the inspectors to take the necessary measures for the ultimate aim of providing safe food to all Abu Dhabi inhabitants.
