Thick fog blankets several areas of the UAE

Intermittent and dense fog blanketed some interior areas in the UAE on Monday morning, and lasted for 8 and a half hours, starting at 1:30 at midnight, until 9:30 am, as a result of the country being affected by weak surface pressure systems, accompanied by an atmospheric high extension in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Fog started to form in separate areas in Al Ain city, Al Ain International Airport, Al Lisaili, Nizwa, Al Maha, Al Awir, Margham and separate areas in Dubai, Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh, Maliha Street and various areas in Sharjah, including Sharjah International Airport, and on Al Jazirah Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah.

The lowest temperature over the country,10°C was recorded, on Monday in Barakah in Al Dhafra at 06:45am.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) expected Tuesday's weather to be clear to partly cloudy at times in some areas, and humid at the Wednesday  morning and night in some coastal areas, with the possibility of light fog formation.

Winds according to the NCM will be southeasterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, at a speed of 10 to 20, reaching 30 kilometres/h.

The sea is expected to be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

Wednesday weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy at times, hot during the day, and humid at night and on Thursday morning in some coastal areas.

On Wednesday, winds are expected to be northeast to southeasterly, light to moderate, and the sea will be light in the Arabian Gulf and in the Sea of Oman.

Thursday weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy at times, hot during the day, and humid by Friday night and morning over some coastal areas. Winds will be northeast to southeasterly light to moderate.

NCM appealed to road users and motorists to take precautions and follow traffic instructions during the formation of fog and the low horizontal visibility at times on some internal and coastal areas.

Abu Dhabi Police also called on motorists to adhere to the variable speed on the electronic road signs on the emirate's roads during times of fog.
