The Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi “ITC” identified the 10 most frequent violations committed by public transport users, with a fine varying between Dhs100 and Dhs500.

The ITC said there are 3 violations of Dhs500, which are definitely committed by selling or purchasing the card designated for boarding the bus from one person to another, lack of commitment by disturbing others, failure to remain calm and not distracting the driver and others.

The violations also include 4 of Dhs200 which are perpetrated by smoking in public buses, eating and drinking or chewing gum, refusing to pay the fare  and entering a bicycle into a bus which does not provide a special space for bicycles.

The violations also include 3 of Dhs100, which are perpetrated by sitting on seats or areas designated for special cases, carry flammable items, and carry sharp tools.

The ITC stressed the need to refrain from practising uncivilised customs and the importance of adhering to laws and regulations ensuring the provision of a decent life, a better standard of living and a sustainable environment for the residents of the emirate.

The ITC reiterated that the capacity of taxis in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for regular vehicles is 3 passengers besides the driver, while the capacity is 4 passengers besides the driver for family vehicles.

The centre also identified a number of services which users can benefit from when using taxis throughout the capital through the “Abu Dhabi Taxi” app, including booking a taxi, tracking its route and paying the trip tariff electronically by a credit card, through the app.

The ITC said it provided 4 types of taxis through the app, enabling users to select the type of vehicle they wish to book, specify the destination and calculate the estimated cost of the trip, where users of the app can choose from public taxis, family vehicles, airport vehicles, and vehicles designated for People of Determination.
