Rainfall expected in some areas of country today

Fog covered some inland and coastal areas in the country on Monday morning, and lasted for 9 and a half hours, as the country is being affected by an extension of a surface high pressure, accompanied with an extension of upper air high pressure.

Fog began to form on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum- Saih Al Sedira Road towards Saih Shuaib, Al Ajban, Al Faya truck road in Abu Dhabi, Sweihan in Al Ain, Al Ain - Abu Dhabi Road, Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region, and Abu Dhabi International Airport, the NCM said.

The lowest temperature in the country on Monday was 12ºC in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 04:00 am, according to the NCM.

The Centre appealed to road users and motorists to exercise precautions and follow traffic instructions during the formation of fog and the low horizontal visibility at times on some internal and coastal areas.

In the meantime, the Abu Dhabi Police activated the varying speed system to reduce speeds to 80 km on the Abu Dhabi - Al Ain Road (Al Wathba – Al Faya Bridge),.

Drivers are also urged to adhere to and abide by the speed specified on signs and electronic signboards on the emirate’s roads during fog formation.

The NCM also expects that the weather on Tuesday will be dusty and partly cloudy, and cloudy at times over some eastern and northern areas, maybe associated with light rainfall.

The winds will be light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust reducing the horizontal visibility over exposed areas, with a speed 15 – 25 reaching 40 kilometres/hour. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

On Wednesday, the weather is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy in general. Some low clouds will appear eastward. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust, with a speed 10 – 20 reaching 35 kilometres/hour. The sea will be slight to moderate at times in the Arabian Gulf and slight in Oman Sea.

It also expects the weather on Thursday to be partly cloudy in general and hazy at times. Some low clouds will appear eastward. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times causing blowing dust, with a speed 10 – 20 reaching 35 kilometres/hour. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
