Rain continues across UAE, slight rise in mercury likely on Tuesday

Light to moderate rain due to the formation of convective clouds continued for the second consecutive day on Monday in various parts of the country.

Rain was also caused by an extension of surface low pressure over the northern and eastern areas of the country and an extension of high pressure over the western areas, accompanied with an extension of upper air trough of low pressure, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

Rain lasted for almost 7 hours from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Rain fell on Abu Dhabi Corniche, the Emirate’s International Airport, Mussafah, Abu Al Abyad Island, Turaif in Al Dhafra region, Al Mirfa - Al Mughaira District in Al Dhafra, Al Hamriya, Al Qassimia, Al Sharq Street, and Khor Fakkan in Sharjah.

The lowest temperature monitored in the country on Monday was 2.8ºC in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 12:00am, according to the NCM.

It also expects the weather On Tuesday to be fair to partly cloudy in general, with a significant increase in temperatures.

NCM predicted humid weather on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with chance of fog or mist formation over some coastal and inland areas.

The winds will be light to moderate northeasterly to northwesterly winds, with speed 10 –20 reaching 30 km/hr.

The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.

On Wednesday, the weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy in general.

Humid by night and Thursday morning with chance of fog or mist formation over some coastal and inland areas.

Light to moderate northwesterly winds, with speed 10 – 20 reaching 30 km/hr. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
