The UAE authorities have announced that Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine is being administered on children aged 5 and above at all health and vaccination centres across UAE.

Dr Farida Al Hosani, UAE government spokesperson, said that the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine is administered in two doses, with an interval of 21 days between the first and second doses.

The Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine for children is available as an additional option to the previously approved Sinopharm vaccine for children aged 3-12 years.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention, in cooperation with health authorities, has announced the start of providing the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years.

This is based on the results of studies and the strict evaluation that follows the emergency use permit and the local evaluation that complies with the approved international regulations.

All parties, in cooperation with the health sector, have been keen since the beginning of the pandemic to be proactive in activating the preparedness plan for epidemics, focusing on key data, including the rehabilitation of response and monitoring teams, and ensuring the sustainability of the infrastructure.

The UAE has achieved many gains during the pandemic, and this comes under the guidance of the wise leadership to develop balanced strategies that enhance integration and interdependence between the relevant agencies and authorities in the country and with the commitment and cooperation of community members.
