The UAE Public Prosecution (PP) explained on Wednesday, through a video on its social media accounts, the penalties for the embezzlement of moveable property that is pledged as security for debt.
According to Article 455 of the Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 in passing the Crimes and Penalties Law, "whoever embezzles or attempts to embezzle a moveable property which had been pledged as a security for a debt that is payable by such person or another person" shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a duration of not more than 2 years or fined a monetary penalty of not less than Dhs20,000.
The same penalty shall be applied against the owner who is appointed as a guardian of the judicially or administratively attached moveable properties thereof if such owner embezzles something therefrom.

The UAE Public Prosecution on Saturday has explained that 'who ever deliberately removes, breaks, or damages signboards and surveillance cameras will be jailed for a duration not less than a year and a fine of not less than Dhs50,000.
The UAE Federal Public Prosecution has clarified that a convicted drug abuser refusing to submit to a drug test shall be sentenced to imprisonment for two years and fined a monetary penalty of not less than Dhs10,000.
In a post on its social media platform Public Prosecution said violators will be jailed for up to six months and /or a fine of not less that Dhs300,000 which could go up to not more than Dhs500,000.
The penalities will be imposed on whoever deposits or transfers, whether by himself or through others, or accepts the transfer to him of funds with a view to committing any offences of abuse or personal use of any narcotics or psychotropic substances.
The typing centres affirmed that the entry permit application was activated since last Friday and covered all types of residence visas, noting that the holder of a UAE residence visa who stayed abroad for more than 6 months can apply for the entry permit.
