India Travel Update: UAE residents flying to India will have to undergo home quarantine for 7 days

India authorities have decided to impose a week's compulsory home quarantine on all those arriving from abroad in view of the surge in coronavirus and Omicron cases, Indian Health Ministry said on Friday.
According to the guidelines, travellers from UAE will have to undergo home quarantine. But all travellers may not need to do PCR test on arrival depending on the state they are travelling to.
The authorities said that on the 8th day of home quarantine a PCR test would be conducted.
The authorities have urged travellers to upload the results of the 8th day PCR test on the Air Suvidha portal for state authorities to verify the results.
If the test result is negative, the traveller will be told to self-monitor for another seven days.
In the advent of a positive case, the person will be shifted to institutional quarantine followed by tests.
The Indian state of Kerala and Maharashtra are testing all passengers arriving from the UAE.
Travel Guidelines:
— A mandatory home quarantine for 7-day for travellers from UAE
— No need for PCR test on arrival except Kerala and Maharashtra.
— Passengers arriving from UAE will not be allowed to use public transport in other areas of Maharashtra.
— Travellers on connecting flights to other states or to other parts of Maharashtra will be allowed to take flights.
The Indian airport authorities have informed the respective Airport Officer regarding the travellers arriving from UAE.
According to the circular and with the emergence of Omicron cases, monitoring of international travellers is required, especially those arriving from "countries at-risk."
The decision was taken in view of UAE being the hub where passengers change flights at airport.
