The Ismailia Criminal Court in Egypt sentenced Abdel Rahman Nazmi, known as "Dabour" to death by hanging for deliberately beheading a compatriot and attempting to kill two others publicly in a street in Ismailia city.

Earlier on December 9, 2021, the Criminal Court had referred the defendant to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, to express the “Shar’i” (legal) opinion on his execution.

The convict, Abdel Rahman Nazmi, sent a letter to his family, declaring he is filled with remorse and shame for the murder that shocked public opinion in Ismailia Governorate.

Nazmi beheaded a person and walked carrying brazenly the victim’s head in his hand in a public street.

A source in Ismailia governorate revealed the details of the letter he sent to his family.

The convict asked them to bring to him a “Mus’haf” (Holy Quran), religious books and stories of the prophets, affirming that during the recent period he has continued to perform prayer on time.

He also expressed that he aspires to be forgiven by God Almighty and his family.

He further asked his family to pay off some of the debts he borrowed from a number of people, noting that these amounts ranged between 100-200 Egyptian pounds approximately.

In addition, the convict asked his family to donate ten pounds into mosques they pass through, to be an ongoing charity for him.
