The Tabuk Police, in northern Saudi Arabia, arrested a citizen who was filmed assaulting a group of women in a public place.

Netizens have expressed their anger at the scene, and demanded the arrest of the aggressor and his accountability, and the application of the most severe penalties slapped on him.

The media spokesman for the Tabuk police, Colonel Khaled Al-Ghabban, stated that the security follow-up to the crimes arrested a citizen who was seen beating women in a public place, and he was taken into custody, and initial legal measures were taken against him. He was referred to the Public Prosecution.

In August 2021, the Public Prosecutor in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Saud Bin Abdullah Al-Mojeb, issued an arrest warrant for a person who appeared in a video clip circulating on social media, in which he stalks a woman in a public place in Al-Kharj Governorate and then beats her, according to local media.

The media quoted an official source in the Saudi Public Prosecution, saying, “Based on what the Parliamentary Monitoring Center submitted of a video clip circulating on social media, the content of which showed that a person stalked a woman in a public place in Al-Kharj Governorate and beat her up.”

The source explained that the Public Prosecution follows up and monitors all behaviours that disturb the peace and tranquility of members of the society and that violate their rights guaranteed by the law.
