Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa)’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has received over 200 school visits with more than 6,500 students of various classes, since the launch of the world-class event on Oct.1, 2021.

Students learned about Dewa’s key projects, especially in clean and renewable energy, sustainability and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Students were particularly interested in Rammas, Dewa’s virtual employee which uses AI to respond to customer enquiries in Arabic and English. It is capable of learning and addressing customer needs, based on their enquiries to offer transactional and informational services.

"The large turnout from students at our pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai underlines their interest in sustainability, clean and renewable energy technologies. As the Official Sustainable Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, Dewa contributes to raising awareness of digital transformation to achieve sustainable development, and the role of clean and renewable energy in combating climate change, as well as DEWA’s role in these areas using the latest Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies including AI,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications at Dewa.

At its pavilion in the Sustainability District at Expo 2020Dubai, Dewa shows some of its key projects and initiatives, including the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world; the Green Hydrogen project, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce hydrogen using solar energy; Digital Dewa, the digital arm of Dewa, which aims to make Dewa the first digital utility in the world with autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage with the expansion in AI and digital services; and the 250MW hydroelectric pumped-storage power plant in Hatta, among other pioneering projects and initiatives.
