The UAE has announced that its PCR tests can detect the new COVID-19 variant Omicron.

The authorities made the statement during the weekly media briefing on latest development on COVID-19 in the country.

The authorities said that the UAE continues to expand the scope of its PCR testing campaign, utilizing the best early detection techniques, for quick intervention and containment.

The health experts said, “We confirm the efficacy of PCR tests in these detection techniques that cover new variants, such as Omicron.”

The competent authorities in the UAE are constantly assessing the situation, drafting relevant plans, and supporting vital sectors, including the health sector, with all their capacities, to help contain the pandemic

The authorities said, “We encourage the public to cooperate and adhere to the preventive measures to address the COVID-19 pandemic, such as wearing face masks, avoiding crowded areas and sanitising frequently. Our society’s health is our priority and the responsibility of each one of us.”

The UAE has detected a case of Omicron.

It is taking all measures to curb and restrict the virus.
