The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian to two years in prison, fined him Dhs4,400, followed by deportation.

He was convicted along with his fugitive associates for stealing the same amount of money after assaulting the spare parts dealer.

The details of the incident date back to last July, when a spare parts dealer reported that an Asian gang had assaulted him and stole Dhs4,400 from his wallet after luring him under the pretext of a 'fake' deal for spare parts.

“All the gang members fled the scene after seizing my wallet containing Dhs4,400 with my mobile phone inside,” the victim stated.

The convict admitted during the investigations that he was present on the day of the incident with others and the victim also joined them at the same place.

They all consumed liquor together.

"A dispute arose between me and one of the convicts and they snatched his phone and money and all fled the scene," the victim added.
