Father dies, daughter critical after their car collides with vehicle driven by drunken Arab in UAQ

An 56-year-old Arab died, while his daughter, 20, sustained serious injuries, after the vehicle he was driving collided with another car and flipped over on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road in Umm Al Quwain.

The operations room received a report at 10:50 pm on Sunday, stating that a vehicle had flipped over and a person was trapped inside.

Immediately, the police patrols, civil defence teams and national ambulances moved to the site, where the rescue teams cut the vehicle and removed the driver who died at the scene of the accident.

According to the police investigation the driver of the other car, also an Arab, who caused the accident was under influence of alcohol.

The man’s daughter sustained various injuries and she was taken to the hospital to receive appropriate treatment.

Umm Al Quwain Police called on drivers and road users not to be distracted by anything other than the road and the need to adhere to the specified speeds on the roads, to pay attention while driving.

They are also advised to stop in case of feeling tired or drowsy in order to preserve their safety and the safety of others.
