Arab and Asian nationals drown in Umm Al Quwain beach

An Arab and an Asian residents drowned separately in Umm Al Quwain (UAQ) Beach “Al Bait Metwahhed” on Friday afternoon.

Reports to this effect were received by the Umm Al Quwain Police’s operations room and the competent authorities were notified accordingly, while patrols from Al Madinah Comprehensive Police Station rushed to the scene.

In the first case, which took place at 5:00pm, there were 3 Asians, two of whom were rescued while the third, 29, drowned. They were transported by the national ambulance to the Umm Al Quwain Hospital.

In the second case, which took place at 6:00pm, an Arab, 30, drowned and was transported by the national ambulance to the Khalifa Hospital in Umm Al Quwain

Brigadier Khalifa Salem Al Shamsi, Director of Comprehensive Police Stations at Umm Al Quwain Police, called on the public not to go to beaches in unstable weather conditions and to pay attention to the guiding signs that request them to exercise extreme caution.

Recently, the general Directorate of Ajman Police honoured an Arab for rescuing a child from drowning in Ajman beach, within the framework of honouring public collaborators and valuing their responsibility and interest in community issues.

Colonel Ali Jabr Al Shamsi, Director of the Department of Comprehensive Police Centres handed over a certificate of appreciation and a reward to Mohammed Magdi Hakami, a 40-year-old Egyptian in recognition of his security sense towards an Arab child, 9 years, who was about to drown in Ajman beach.
