VIDEO: Two police officers killed in Ismailia gunfight with wanted criminal

The Egyptian Public Prosecution issued a decision to urgently investigate the killing of two police officers and the wounding of others while exchanging bullets with a wanted criminal.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution said in its statement: “The Public Prosecution received this morning a report of the martyrdom of two police officers and the injury of two others from its forces during an exchange of bullets with an accused – who had previously been authorised by the Public Prosecution to arrest him – and his death during it, so the Attorney General ordered the investigation in the matter.”

The Public Prosecution indicated that, “Police investigations concluded that the deceased accused and two others were trading in firearms and ammunition, so the Public Prosecution authorised their arrest. The police moved to arrest one of them who started shooting, killing the two officers, two others were injured.”

The criminal was also killed in the operation.
According to the statement, “The Public Prosecution formed a team of its members who went to the scene of the accident, and inspected it, accompanied by experts from the Public Administration to investigate forensic evidence. The team also moved to question the injured from the police forces, and investigations are being completed.”

The statement added: “On the occasion of this incident, the Public Prosecution Office is tensing up at the hands of the policemen for the sacrifices they make in order to control the crimes and their perpetrators.

To achieve security throughout the country, especially on this day, which has long been a symbol in Egypt’s history of sacrifice and redemption, and upholding the sovereignty of the Egyptian state over its lands.”
