The global outage in services of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram has sent the world of Twitter and Netflix into a freefall of entertainment – at the expense of Facebook and its popular apps. Memes mocking the social media giant and its popular acquisitions WhatsApp and Instagram have been flooding the net.

One tweet says, “The whole world is on Twitter now.” Another says, “WhatsApp is an Instant Messenger, not social media.”

Another Twitter user, Isa (bella), remarks, “Netflix WhatsApp is down and I can’t cheat on my exams.” To which another user says, “Take the exam nevertheless XXX. Tweet about it.”

User TomCub makes a tongue-in-cheek quip, “That’s why Facebook shouldn’t own everything. LoL.”

The global outage is epic, said Doug Madory, director of internet analysis for Kentik Inc.

Facebook's only public comment so far was a tweet in which it acknowledged that "some people are having trouble accessing (the) Facebook app” and that it was working on restoring access. Regarding the internal failures, Instagram head Adam Mosseri tweeted that it feels like a "snow day.”
