The Abu Dhabi Police warned against gathering at accident sites, as this impede the arrival of ambulances, emergency vehicles, traffic patrols and civil defence as fast as possible to provide assistance to the injured and save their lives.

Stressing the necessity of giving way to ambulances and civil defense to reach the accident sites and perform their duties, the police explained that crowding usually leads to some accidents as a result of some drivers standing at the accident sites and curious pedestrians crossing the various roads to these sites, in which case they might possibly be subject to run-over accidents.

The police called on the public to abide by the traffic guidelines at accident sites to ensure their safety and that of road users, warning that a fine of Dhs1,000 would be imposed on hindering traffic movement to put an end to crowds and random parking on the roads and prevent traffic jams during traffic accidents.

They pointed out that curious people gathering at accident sites to take photos of the vehicles involved and the injured and then post these photos on social media is an unacceptable behaviour and render them legally accountable, as per Article 197 of the Penal Code.
