VIDEO: Reckless driver cuts across road to turn right, almost killing a biker in Abu Dhabi

A reckless motorist with no respect for traffic laws caused a major traffic accident in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Police have shared a video on their social media platforms on Friday.

The errant motorist approaching an intersection in Abu Dhabi initially decides to go left from the signal and gets on to the left lane. But at the last minute, the driver steers his vehicle to go to the right from extreme left.

This decision of the motorist confuses a motorbike rider approaching the signal.

The errant driver almost hit the bike. The rider manages to evade the car but loses control and falls down in the middle of the intersection.

The action of the motorist almost took the life of the motorbike rider.

The police have urged motorists to avoid sudden severing and changing lanes at the last minute.  

The police said that this causes confusion, which can lead to horrific accidents.

The Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Center, and within the "Safety Path" campaign launched initiative "You Comment," and broadcast videos of motorists’ behavior that caused traffic accident.

The aim is educate drivers about the traffic laws.

Ever since the video was published, residents were mad are the sedan driver.

An Instagram user named, Sooraj wrote, “Sudden track change and cutting across multiple tracks like this should be classified as dangerous driving and carry maximum fine and black points.”

Moesin said, “Should be heavily fined even jailed now, that motorbike person could have died.”

Muhammad Khurram Naseem Awan said, “Almost 100 of times it happened with me, one signal before ADCB signal in Electra Street, people are taking decision on last second, everyone please be careful, because its better to reach late than never reach. May Allah bless this rider...”

Khaled Alfardan said on Twitter, “There is no power but from God the Almighty… I don't know how some people are blamimg the bike rider… it's crystal clear that the car driver is reckless… to simply put it, the car driver is 100% wrong, and I don't blame the bike's behavior just because he turned toward the car to save himself.”

Ahmed Abdel Magid Khalifa, write on Twitter, “This is ridiculosu to turn from the far left to the far right. This is the biggest mistake, and at the signal…, it means that the driver is not aware of the simplest driving laws, and the biker is obviously trying to get away from the car’s path to safe himself.”

Talal Al-Hart said, “Bicycles should include daytime running lights, LED lights that work at all times, at noon and the intensity of the glare sometimes making it difficult to detect their presence in the traffic lane.”
