The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has issued a circular to the private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah regarding the procedures for returning to schools.

It has been decided that a negative COVID-19 PCR test will be mandatory for all who work in educational institutions and students from 12 years and above to enter the educational institution at the beginning of the new school year.

Students will be exempted from the vaccination requirement to enter educational institutions. They will be only required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test at the beginning of the school year.

The SPEA has also called on parents to encourage their children to receive the vaccine in support of the country’s efforts to control the pandemic and achieve community immunity.

The SPEA also stated that all employees of educational institutions must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with “at least two doses” in order to be allowed to enter the educational institutions, except for those excluded from vaccination based on an official medical report.

Those who are excluded from vaccination must present a COVID-19 PCR test on a weekly basis, SPEA added.

Those who are coming from abroad and are unvaccinated will be exempted from the vaccination condition to enter educational institutions, provided they commit to presenting a COVID-19 PCR test on a weekly basis for a period of two months until they receive the vaccine, the SPEA said.
