VIDEO: At least two dead, 22 injured in Russia bus explosion

Russian authorities said that a bus explosion in Voronezh in the western part of the country killed two people and injured 22 others.

The governor of the region, Alexander Gusev, said a woman who was seriously injured died shortly after the explosion.

He later said that another woman died from her injuries after being hospitalised.

He said that several of the wounded were in critical condition due to burns.

The bus driver told media that there were 35 people on the bus.

The explosion occurred while the bus was at a stop near a shopping centre.

Amateur videos showed the roof and windows were blow off.

Russian media later showed those videos on national television.

The investigative committee in charge of the country's main cases said in a statement that it had sent experts from Moscow and opened a criminal proceeding for negligent maintenance of the bus.

"So far, there is no indication that this is a terrorist attack," Deputy Regional Governor Sergei Sokolov told the Interfax news agency.
