The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police on Thursday launched a humanitarian initiative titled “We Ease Their Suffering”, which aims to ease the impact of the sun’s rays and severe heat on outdoor workers.

In various areas in the city of Abu Dhabi, the happiness patrol distributed mini umbrellas and cold water bottles among a number of community members to protect them from the sun’s heat, especially those who do not have private cars, workers and farmers.

The move seeks to enhance the societal role of the Abu Dhabi Police and affirms their keenness on maintaining safety and protection of all members of society.

The initiative comes in recognition of the efforts of those who work under tough circumstances bearing high temperatures in outdoor sites to ensure their safety. It also aims to provide all the necessary tools to enhance their safety by protecting them from the risks of heat exhaustion, sunstroke and various summer diseases.

In the meantime, the Anti-Narcotics Department in Al Ain also carried out a similar initiative titled “Make It Cool To Them” during which umbrellas and containers to preserve cold water were distributed among the workers and farmers.

Last year, Abu Dhabi Police deployed face masks and personal protective supplies among residents of a number of areas in Abu Dhabi, including Musaffah, Al Mafraq and Al Shawamekh in addition to Al Ain City, as part of the “For Your Safety” Campaign.

The police patrol officers advised the public to comply with the precautionary measures taken by the country and the directives issued by competent departments to avoid COVID-19, including social distancing protocols, frequent hand-washing and steering clear of mass gatherings and large community events.

Within the same context, Abu Dhabi Police carried out an anti-coronavirus awareness campaign in the industrial areas of Al Ain City.

Captain Mohamed Musabah Al Saadi, of Abu Dhabi Police, said, “The campaign aims to distribute face masks among workers in their workplaces and accommodation camps and boost their awareness of the precautionary measures against the virus, including proper wearing of face masks and gloves and adhering to social distancing protocol.”

Tens of thousands of construction workers are benefiting from the campaign in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain City.
