India registers 35,499 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

India reported on Monday 35,499 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 31.96 million cases, according to Union health ministry update.

The federal health ministry said on Monday the deaths rose by 447, taking total fatalities to 428,309. The number is slightly lower than yesterday's 39,070 cases.

According to the ministry's data the fresh cases, the overall tally has reached 31,969,954.

In a statement issued by the health ministry said the number of active cases declined to 402,188. The national coronavirus recovery rate has improved to 97.40 per cent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 31,139,457.
