Two young men drown in Nile River while trying to retrieve spectacles

Two young men, Ahmed H.A, 30, and Mohamed T.H, 30, drowned in the Nile River in the city of Mansoura, Daqahlia Governorate, Egypt, on Friday.

The incident took place when one of them lost his balance and fell into the water while trying to pick up his spectacles that fell from his hand into the water. The other jumped to save his friend, but tragically, both drowned.

The river rescue forces and ambulances moved to the place, where the two young men drowned. They were able to retrieve their bodies with the help of fishing boats in the area.

The bodies were transferred to Mansoura International Hospital based on directives of the Public Prosecution.

Eyewitnesses explained that the two young men were standing on the shore of the Nile River, Damietta branch, before one of them slipped and fell into the water while trying to catch his eye glasses that fell from his hands. His friend tried to pull him out, but he failed and drowned as well.
