The Dubai Police have revealed that tailgating and overspeeding  were the main causes behind the accidents reported during Eid Al Adha holidays.

Motorists' failure to abide by lane discipline was the another major cause of accidents during Eid holidays.

During the period between July 20 and July 23 the Dubai Police's emergency hotline (999) received 37,422 calls, while the non-emergency toll number (901) got 5,456 calls.

Police also got 568 emails from customers who contacted the force’s (901) call centre for general inquires, feedback, and technical help and responded to 475 people via live chats.

Director of the Command and Control Centre of Dubai Police's Operations Department, Colonel Turki Bin Fares has urged the public to understand the difference between 901 and the emergency hotline 999.

He advised residents to be more mindful of the calls they make to the hotline.
