Youssef Mohammed was suffering from retinoblastoma since he was one-year-old.

The Al Jalila Foundation has helped a 3-year-old Syrian boy Youssef Mohammed, who was suffering from a rare cancer called retinoblastoma in his right eye, to get a prosthetic eye.

Youssef Mohammed was suffering from retinoblastoma since he was one-year-old.

Doctors at Al Jalila Foundation, with the help of other government departments, decided to remove Youssef’s right eye and replace it with a new prosthetic one.

Youssef’s parents expressed their gratitude to Al Jalila Foundation as Youssef is now happy and self confident and thanked the Foundation for all the help it provided.  

Youssef was diagnosed with retinoblastoma and had to undergo six months of chemotherapy, which was too costly and his family could not afford it, so they sought help from Al Jalila Foundation.

Dr Abdul Kareem Sultan, Al Jalila’s CEO said the foundation helps a lot of patients thanks to the support of partners and donors.

Sultan added that Youssef’s surgery was performed thanks to the A’awen programme of Al Jalila Foundation, which provides financial help to needy patients in the UAE since 2013.
