Woman who returned from UK to attend father’s funeral raped in Pakistani city of Lahore

A 26-year-old British-Pakistani woman, who recently returned to Lahore to attend her father's funeral, was allegedly raped by a close family friend in the city’s Wahdat Colony area, a local media reported on Wednesday. Lahore police said that the accused was arrested after a rape case was registered against him.

According to the police report, the incident took place last week in Lahore and the woman later approached the police to register the rape case against the accused.

The victim told police that she had come to Lahore from England six months ago to attend her father's funeral. She recounted that her step-mother refused to let her stay at their home. Later she shifted to the house of her father’s close friend, who lived in Wahdat Colony area in Gulshan-e-Rehmat and had been staying with them since then.

On the night of June 26, my father friend’s son entered into my room and raped me, the victim said. She added that the accused repeated the sexual assault for three more days.

She told the police in the report, that after continue sexual assaults, her health condition deteriorated but the accused didn’t let her visit the hospital for treatment. As I didn’t see any hope to flee from the house and the trauma I had underwent, I called a police helpline on Tuesday (June 29) and told them about the entire incident.

The victim sought Punjab police help to bring the culprit to the book for exemplary punishment.
