An African employee, 26, was arrested and referred to the criminal court by the Dubai Public Prosecution for robbing a brand watch worth 2,000 Hong Kong dollars from his workplace at Dubai Airport.

Court records reveal that the robbery took place last May, indicating that the business owner had filed a police report against the defendant after discovering his crime.

During investigations, the American businessman stated that a female employee had witnessed the defendant’s robbery through surveillance footage after her watch went missing.

"The female employee took off her Nevada watch to pass through the screening machine before entering the workplace, and placed it inside the search box. After passing through security inspection, she discovered that her watch had gone missing,” he said.

She reported the incident to the company’s operations room, and surveillance cameras were reviewed to solve the matter.

Cameras revealed that the defendant had taken advantage of the victim’s distraction with the inspection and stolen the watch.

Afterwards, investigations pointed out that the defendant was a customer service employee at the airport. He was tracked down and placed under arrest.

Upon interrogation, the defendant confessed to robbing the watch, which is nearly worth Dhs946, and claimed that he had stolen it for personal use.
