VIDEO: Two injured in Thursday's night fire in Abu Dhabi residential building

The firefighting teams of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence were able to control the fire that broke out on Thursday night, in a 12-storey residential building in the Al Ma’moura area of Abu Dhabi, causing two minor injuries, while no deaths were reported.

The Operations Room of the Civil Defence was alerted about a fire that erupted in a residential building, and immediately the firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene, where they proceeded to extinguish the fire, which spread to the next building.

Brig. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Amri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, explained that the firefighting teams were able to contain the fire and evacuate the building in record time, noting that the firefighting, rescue and ambulance teams, and the police teams dealt with the whole thing with high efficiency till the arrival of the fire brigade, he added.

The investigations into the fire incident are still going on to find out its causes and circumstances, Al Amri added.

He praised the efforts of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police in alerting drivers to the closure of some roads leading to the accident location and diverting traffic to alternative roads.

He also thanked the public for their quick response to alerts of the Civil Defence, which contributed to the success of the efforts.

He called on the owners' establishments to abide by the safety and prevention requirements of residential and commercial facilities in a way that enhance efforts to avoid the occurrence of such accidents.
