VIDEO: Russian men climb drainpipe to save children from fire

In a dramatic incident, some men in Russia rescued two children from a house fire by shimmying up a drainpipe.
The incident took place in the city of Kostroma.
On a busy afternoon, a fire broke out on the third floor of an apartment housing the two children at the time.
Panic children were trapped.
Residents from the neighbourhood gathered around the site.
In a flash of a second, the men started to climb the pipe attached to the building forming a human chain.
One of the men reached the third floor window and asked the child to grab his hand.
The frightened child hesitantly gripped the man’s hand, and was eventually passed on to the other one by one till the child was handed over to a lady on the groundfloor.
The second child was rescued in a similar way.
The men averted a major disaster as fire engines reached the site after a long time.
The children were treated by medics and are in good health.
It was learned that the local residents from the city have nominated the men for bravery awards for their heroic efforts.
The video shot by a residents and made available by ViralHog, a news video website said, “An apartment across from us caught fire, trapping two children inside.
“Some local residents climbed the drainpipe to the third-story window and formed a human chain to pass the children down to the ground with one hand while holding onto the drainpipe with the other.”
A YouTuber with the name, Armann said, “This is what men do! These guys are heroes. Sure the kids are terrified dangling but better than smoked out or burned alive!”
