Don’t leave kids unsupervised in swimming pools, warn Abu Dhabi Police

Abu Dhabi Police warned families of the danger of leaving children unsupervised in home or public swimming pools, stressing the need to accompany them and intensify supervision to avoid drowning accidents.

The ADP also warned against being negligent and ignorant of related safety instructions to protect children from drowning, adding that such incidents could occur in just a few minutes if safety procedures are not followed.

It warned the depth of the water, unfamiliarity with swimming; slippery area and absence of fences around the pools are the causes of accidents.

The ADP also asked families to install safety fences around pools in their homes to prevent children from accessing them alone, as well ensure that the floors are not slippery, to avoid accidents.

It stressed the necessity of wearing swimming equipment and providing children with collars, tools and life jackets while swimming.
