Several areas of UAE witness foggy morning

The fog covered some coastal and inland areas of the UAE on Saturday morning.

A fog covered some coastal and inland areas on Saturday morning and continued for 8 hours, starting at midnight and continuing until 8am. The fog began to form on Saih Shuaib, Al Haffar, Arjan and Al Khatim in Abu Dhabi, while intermittent fog began on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road, Dubai-Abu Dhabi, Sweihan-Al Ain Road, Jebel Ali-Al Minhad in Dubai and Al Maktoum International Airport.

The UAE recorded so far this year the highest daily rate of maximum temperature rise at 51 degrees Celsius in Sweihan in Al Ain, at 2pm on Friday. The lowest temperature of 21.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at 05:45am on Saturday in Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi, while the highest temperature of 50.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Sweihan, Al Ain at 15.45.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) called on road users and motorists to take caution and follow traffic instructions during the formation of fog, when visibility would be at its lowest sometimes.

The Abu Dhabi Police activated the speed limit system to be 80 km on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Al Falah-Al Shahama), Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road (Abu Dhabi-Dubai), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Abu Dhabi-Dubai), Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road, Al Faya Truck Road and Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Al Wathba-Al Khatim) from 1am till 7:30am.

According to the NCM, the weather on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is expected to be clear to partly cloudy with low clouds appearing on the eastern coast in the morning and cumulus clouds on mountains in the afternoon. The weather will be hot during the day and humid at night with a chance of fog or light fog on some coastal and inland areas, especially the western ones.

The winds will be north-easterly of light to moderate speed and sometimes strong at 15 to 25 and up to 35 km/h. The sea will have light to medium waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
