A 32-year-old Asian man was arrested and referred to criminal court for attempting to smuggle 6,100g of marijuana into Dubai Airport.
Court records reveal that in January 2021 the vigilance of a customs officer led to the arrest of drug-trafficker.
“The defendant’s luggage box was suspected as the x-ray machine had detected thick objects placed inside,” customs officer said in his testimony.
He added that the defendant was accompanied to a search room during which 6 plastic rolls of marijuana weighing 6,100g were found.
The defendant denied having any knowledge about the drugs inside his luggage.
Airport police transferred the drug-trafficking case to the anti-narcotics department so the defendant can be legally charged for smuggling drugs.
The case dates back to last November, when Customs officers suspected a package that came through an express shipping company, and decided that it must go under inspection.
The Airport’s customs inspectors were checking the traveller’s luggage when they found bags of cereal, with marijuana bags hidden inside and wrapped in tin foil. The drugs weighed 11 kilos and 940 grams in total.
An African visitor has been jailed for 10 years and fined Dhs50,000 by the criminal court for attempting to smuggle marijuana through Dubai International Airport.
While searching defendant's bag the customs officer found a dark bag with cheese powder inside and a brown roll which turned to be marijuana.
The video showed the security personnel rushing in just in time to save the woman after she lost balance and fell on the platform.
The media said that the device was dismantled and defused by a bomb disposal squad.
“With Saudi Arabia, we have made commitments towards Lebanon: to work together, to support reforms, to enable the country to emerge from the crisis and preserve its sovereignty,” Macron said on Twitter.
The project, which extends eight kilometres along Ras Al Khor Road, runs from the intersection of the Dubai-Al Ain Road to the junction of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.
