VIDEO: Dhs1,000 fine and 6 black points for overtaking from hard shoulder in UAE

Abu Dhabi Police, in co-operation with the Follow-up and Control Center - Abu Dhabi, have warned the motorists of the danger of overtaking from the shoulder of the road designated for emergency vehicles.
“Hard shoulders on the road are meant to enhance access to accident sites, aid the injured and save their lives,” Abu Dhabi Police say.
According to the Article No. 42 of the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law overtaking on the road shoulder is a violation of traffic laws and violaters will incur as fine of Dhs1,000 in addition to 6 black points.
Abu Dhabi Police has released a video in this regard to educate the motorists and this comes within the Abu Dhabi Police media initiative "You Comment" and the Safety Path campaign.
