Sharjah Police conclude its traffic campaign 'Avoid Wrong Parking'

The Traffic and Patrols Department of the Sharjah Police General Commands (SP) concluded the "Avoid Wrong Parking" campaign launched on April 12, with the aim of enhancing traffic safety at the Emirate level, embodying the vision of SP, consistent with the strategic goal of the Ministry of Interior to make roads safer.

The campaign aimed to spread traffic awareness about the wrong behaviours committed by some vehicle drivers, such as wrong parking on the road, which results in the obstruction of traffic, as such behaviour negatively impact traffic and causes congestion on the roads.

Major Abdullah Salem Al Mandhari, Head of Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, stated that the launch of the campaign coincided with the blessed Month of Ramadan, based on information and statistics indicating the occurrence of behaviour on vital roads in such a period in previous years, especially at mosques, markets and shopping malls, neighborhoods and residential areas.

The campaign educates vehicle driver with educational materials published through SP accounts on social media platforms, and news sites in several languages (Arabic, English, and Urdu).

Al Mandhari maintained also that the number of beneficiaries reached 24,579, in which a thousand awareness leaflets (brochures) were distributed to vehicle drivers.

In addition to providing broken vehicles with warning triangles to avoid accidents, and to facilitate traffic movement on the various streets and roads of the emirate, which contributed to reducing congestion and accidents.

The Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Sharjah Police called on vehicle drivers to abide by the laws governing traffic and the importance of adhering to the correct parking in designated places, in order to maintain the safety and security of road users.
