The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee recorded 5,067 violations of precautionary measures across Abu Dhabi emirate over the past week, following intensive inspection campaigns.

A total of 4,210 fines were issued, including 72 fines due to gatherings.

The violations also included 786 warnings to commercial and food establishments, and the temporary closure of 71 commercial establishments for 14 days, including tailor shops, car garages and accessories shops, barbershops, restaurants and grocery shops.

The committee reiterated that combating COVID 19 is a shared responsibility.

While inspection campaigns will continue, the committee urges the public to report any violations by calling the toll-free number 800 2626 or sending a text message to 2828.

Since the beginning of Ramadan Abu Dhabi Police have busted 39 gatherings that were in violations of precautionary measures to limit the spread of coronavirus in the country.

It is to be noted that it is illegal to host iftar parties or gatherings as per the directives issued by the health authorities and there is a penalty of Dhs10,000 for the host and Dhs5,000 fine for each participants for flouting the restrictions set for parties and gathering.

Abu Dhabi Police explained that some societal behaviors and traditions associated with the Holy Month of Ramadan have become, in light of the current health conditions, a grave danger to the health and safety of community members.

The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Prosecution and the Abu Dhabi Police have affirmed the importance of all community members coming together to support the efforts of the competent authorities to combat the spread of infection.
