Sharjah Ramadan Majlis turns spotlight on the role of culture

Continuing its tradition of celebrating the spirit of dialogue during the holy month of Ramadan, Sharjah Ramadan Majlis launched its forth session on Wednesday ( 28 April), under the title “ Culture and building youth’s awareness”, aimed at turning spotlight on the role of culture in promoting youth’s awareness.

Hosted by Sharjah Press Club of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the fourth session of the immensely ongoing popular event was headlined by Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities; Rashid Mohammed Al Kous, Executive Director of Emirates Publishers Association. The session was moderated by Sheikha Al Mutairi.

The session was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council; Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, along with a number of senior officials and invitees.

The session’s participants praised the great keenness of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah in supporting the cultural institutions sponsoring writers and publishers, which have played a key role in promoting the UAE’s cultural position to the highest level.

The session’s participants pointed out to the Gulf’s cultural experiences that have contributed to promoting the cultural presence of youth in the regional level.

They also commended the great role of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, in pushing forward the wheel of progress in the cultural sector by supporting book publishers at local and international levels.

Consolidation of Identity: Sheikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa highlighted the importance of polishing youth’s cultural presence at the regional and international levels besides activating their participation in the cultural field, highlighting the role of culture in consolidating youth’s identity and enhancing their belonging to their homelands.

The President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities praised the experience of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting the rights of writers and publishers, pointing to the Bahraini initiatives that have contributed to preparing and supporting young writers to come out with valuable content.

UAE establishes edifice of knowledge: Rashid Mohammed Al Kous stated that the United Arab Emirates, including the Emirate of Sharjah, was able to establish an edifice of knowledge, praising the unlimited efforts of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in providing a conducive environment for writers and publishers stemmed from his belief that the word is an honour and must be penned with full care.

The Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association reviewed the achievements of the association that have played a key role in supporting the publishing sector and bringing cultural laurels and recognition to the UAE.

Earlier, the Sharjah Press Club, a subsidiary of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, hosted its third Ramadan Majlis session on Monday night, dedicated to the great game titled “Local Football ... Reality and Opportunities” at the Kalba Sports Union Club, in the presence of Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, and Khalid Al Naqbi, Executive Director of the Football Association, Kalba Union Club.

The session was headlined by Yousef Hussain Al Sahlawi, Second Vice President of the UAE Football Association, Chairman of the Teams and Technical Affairs Committee, and Captain Nawaf Mubarak, the former UAE national team player, and was moderated by Tariq Al Hammadi, sports journalist.

The speakers lauded the rapid development witnessed by the city of Kalba at all levels in recent years, especially in the sports field, thanks to the special attention bestowed by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The support and patronage by HH the Ruler of Sharjah has had a clear and positive impact on Kalba, boosting its excellence in various fields, especially in sports and sports tourism, argued the panel.
