The official spokesman of the Saudi Border Guard, Lt. Col. Misfer Bin Ghannam Al-Quraini, stated that the land and sea patrols in the Rabigh and Jeddah sectors, belonging to the Makkah region, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 245.7 kilogrammes of heroin, of which 34.5 kilogrammes were seized in Rabigh sector, and 211.2 kilogrammes were seized in the Jeddah sector.

Colonel Al-Quraini clarified that the legal procedures had been completed, and the contraband had been handed over to the anti-narcotics authorities.

He stressed that the border guards will continue to stand firmly, resolutely and ably against all smuggling attempts, and will be an impregnable barrier in front of anyone trying to target the nation’s youth and its capabilities.

In March, Al-Quraini said that the land patrols in Sharurah, Najran region, have managed to foil an attempt to smuggle 1.5 tonnes of cannabis.

He said that the regulatory procedures have been completed against the accused in such cases, affirming that the border guard men continue to firmly and resolutely confront all smuggling attempts.
