Ajman shuts down 16 food establishments for failing to comply with safety protocols

The Municipality of Masfoot, in co-operation with the Municipality and Planning Department-Ajman, has shut down 16 food establishments for their failure to comply with the health and public safety conditions in force.

The inspection and control unit issued 979 warnings and fined 129 food establishments operating in Masfoot city.

Saif Ghadeer Al Ketbi, Director of Masfout Municipality, emphasised that caring for the health and safety of the public is the Municipality’s top priority, and that is endeavors and intensifies to ensure that all establishments adhere to the conditions and rules in order to preserve the safety of society.

“The municipal teams intensified inspection campaigns at all sales outlets, markets and food establishments, conducting 3,845 field visits, which led to seizure of more than 84 kg of unfit foodstuff for consumption,” Al Ketbi added.

He affirmed that the municipality organises periodic inspection campaigns throughout the year.

Al Ketbi further stated that efforts would be intensified ahead and during the holy month of Ramadan, which usually sees a constant and remarkable demand on sales outlets and food establishments.

The inspection unit has prepared a comprehensive plan to cover all areas of Masfoot city to ensure the safety of products and foodstuffs, he added.
