Sharjah Police teams rescued a 42-year-old Italian tourist who fell 50 feet down a mountain in Mleiha on Sunday.

Rescue teams collaborated with the National Search and Rescue Centre to carry out the mission after they were notified about the incident by police’s operations room at 9:50am.

Apparently, the Italian hiker had fallen off in a ravine and faced a difficulty in getting out on his own due to injuries.

Rescue teams used a helicopter to reach the accident site, as the area was difficult to access.

The tourist was airlift, and sustained serious injuries, a fractured hand and a deep wound in his head, but thankfully, he was saved on time and necessary life support procedures were performed on him.

He was accompanied by two companions and was transferred to Al Dhaid Hospital to receive treatment.

Lastly, police officials urged mountain climbers to be cautious and take necessary precautionary measures to ensure their safety during exercising such a sport.
