Heavy rain lashes parts of UAE, brings temperature down

Various areas in the UAE on Saturday witnessed heavy to medium rain following the blowing of southeasterly-northeasterly winds with a speed of 20-30 and up to 40 km/h.

Among the areas that witnessed heavy rainfall were Wadi Al Ajili in Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah-Kalba Road, while Ekhaidir and Al Dhaid in Sharjah, Muzaira in Ajman and the Masafi and Asfi in Ras Al Khaimah witnessed moderate rain. The area of Shuka - Al Munaei Road in Ras Al Khaimah and Saa area in Al Ain city witnessed light rain.

The areas of Al Khatim, Al Rahba, Al Bahia, Al Shahama, Al Falah, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road in Abu Dhabi witnessed light rain, while Al Rawdah, Al Sad, Sweihan and Khutm Al Shukla areas in Al Ain and Al Khazna witnessed moderate rain.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said that the weather on Sunday would be partly cloudy to cloudy at times over some areas especially eastward and westward with a chance of rainfall.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds freshening at times causing blowing dust, with a speed of 20-30, reaching 40Km/hr. The sea will be moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in Oman Sea.

The lowest temperature monitored by the stations of NCM was 13.3ºC in Jabel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 05:00 am, while the highest temperature ever was 35.8 ºC in Al Twayyen in Fujairah at 13:45.

The maximum and minimum temperatures expected on Sunday would be as follows 22-34ºC in Abu Dhabi, 22-33ºC in Dubai, 19-36ºC in Sharjah, 21-35ºC in Ajman, 19-35ºC in Umm Al Quwain, 15-34ºC Ras Al Khaimah, 23-30ºC in Fujairah and 22-32ºC in Al Ain, according to prediction of the NCM.
