UAE's COVID-19 mortality rate is lowest globally at 0.4%

The UAE Ministry of Health conducted 110,807 tests as part of its plans to expand the scope of the tests, and revealed 1,390 new cases of the coronavirus, 1,708 recoveries and 2 death cases due to complications.

Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, shared the latest development on the situation on coronavirus.

Hammadi said, “Between 20 and 27 October, the rate of tests increased to 1% compared to the same period last week, and tests revealed a 12% increase in confirmed cases.”

The country's positive to total cases was 1%, which is the lowest compared to the European Union, the Middle East and North Africa, and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries.

Hammadi highlighted, “The recovery rate increased by 18%, and mortality rate decreased by 45% compared to last week. The mortality rate is the lowest globally at 0.4%."

In Abu Dhabi, a new drive-through COVID-19 testing centre has opened at Al Muroor.

The Capital Health Screening Centre will perform drive-through coronavirus tests at a cost of Dhs180.

The centre is located near Al Jazeera Sports Club.

The test samples will taken to the National Reference Laboratory for further assessment.

The centre is open from 9am to 6pm from Sunday to Thursday.
